The Masters: Martin Kaymer faces his Augusta demons

It was not very long back that it seemed that Martin Kaymer had it all set. He was just 26 and already he had won his 1st Major and only six months since then he bagged the title of World No. 1. Post the breakthrough win in 2010 at Whistling Straits, Kaymer missed out on his cut at Augusta. This was however nothing different as he had done exactly the same thing during all his past visits to Masters, however this time it has quite a long-lasting effect.

The young German golfer promised then and there, to bring a change in his game which will help him tailor it accordingly to fit the requirements of Augusta National along with introducing a consistent draw in his set of shots.

Since the past 3 years, Kaymer has been playing the game quite smoothly, as if it wasn’t there at all. talking about his gameplay and the prospect of more wins, Kaymer commented that few considered that last year was quite successful for him, however he feels that it was much disappointing as he hit the ball quite well although he did not make a lot of pouts till the final 9 holes, where he has 6 birdies. He feels that this is a great momentum with which he should enter this year and he believes that he can play the course very well and he is getting closer.

For the first 4 years Kaymer was unable to manage the course at all, it wasn’t really impossible, however it sure was difficult. He commented that since the last two years or so, he was able to hit every kind of shot which was quite satisfying. He is really looking forward to playing at the Augusta and expects that he will be good at it.
