Otaegui Missed Out On European Tour First 59 Round

Rising Spanish golfer Adrian Otaegui has reportedly missed out on European Tour First 59 Round but has earned 2-shot lead at Pretoria at the halfway stage.

The 22-year-old golfer would be taking 2-shot lead onto 3rd round of Tshwane Open.

9 birdies in first sixteen holes, including consecutive 5 from the 8th, has left the golfer in need of couple of two more if he has to break 60 barrier. However, this erstwhile British Boys champ narrowly failed in chipping in from edge of green on seventeenth & dropped his sole shot of that day post finding his bunker off tee.

The world # 403 got a halfway net total of eleven under par, a couple of shots over Merrick Bremner from South Africa – who birdied 4 of his final 6 holes to add 66 to the opening 65.
Merrick’s compatriots Trevor Fisher Junior & Keith Horne, were one shot back on 8 under alongside David Horsey from England and Italian Edoardo Molinari.

Adrian, who had erstwhile Ryder Cup lead Jose Maria as his mentor, played a fair share of junior golf sessions at Jose’s home club at Fuenterrabia.

“I was highly focused & did not realize that I came up with 5 consecutive birdies”, stated the young Spanish golfer.

“I was going well & made some putts & I was contemplating about that only. The best of golf game is when one thinks the least possible & today was one such day. We were the first here for tee off, the conditions were just perfect & so were the greens. I love playing early & thus I played quite well- came up with several birdies & I am pretty satisfied with the round”, added in the Spanish golfer while approached to speak a few words about his play.
