Adrian Otaegui from Spain won the prestigious 2010 Boys Amateur Championship to become the Champion Boy Golfer of the year. He beat Max Rottluff of Germany four and three in the thirty six holes final at Kilmarnock. Jose Maria Olazabal (in 1983), Sergio Garcia (in 1997) and Pablo Martin (2001) have been the previous winners of the same prestigious tournament from Spain.
It was all square in the 20th hole and then Adrian Otaegui struck his opponents a major blow as he won four consecutive holes with brilliant scores of par, birdie, bogey and par.
The Spaniard later said that he was very excited at having won the tournament and admitted that he played very well. With this great victory, he has earned himself an invitation into the prestigious 2011 Amateur Championship which will be held at Hillside and Hesketh.
He said that Olazabal is his golf hero and to have his name next to his in the trophy is like a dream come true. He admitted that he practices sometimes with his idol and was planning to call him up and tell him about his victory.
