I played with custom clubs for a few weeks (around fall 2004) after I was able to transfer them to gamecube, and most of the hardest eagles were with custom clubs. after a few weeks, I realized the game was too easy with custom clubs, and have used Toadstool Tour characters + basic clubs for every round since.
I’ve eagled about 60% of the holes that have eagle badges using only TT characters and basic clubs.
I played regularly from December 2003 until August 2006. I’ve been in college since then, and have only played during breaks for the past two years.
To be honest, I don’t try to go for highlights. I focus only on getting the best score possible, so I normally try to hit the ball close, but don’t often try to make the shot. If you hit it close many times, the hole will get in the way from time to time.
I still have a lot of fun, even though it’s been 4.5 years I’ve had no one to play with.
